Collaborations and Community

I was recently asked to collaborate with a marketing and branding guru, Anastasia from The Identite Collective.  She was in need of beautiful florals for a two day workshop at the famed Oh Happy Day Studios in SF, and I was in need of some great pointers to help me with my brand and social media marketing.  It was friendship and collaboration magic, and I believe we both got a lot out of helping each other. It was also a great opportunity to create supportive community, and with some amazing business gals to boot. Here are a few photos from the fantastic weekend workshop and the florals. If you are in need of a marketing guru who specializes in women entrepreneurs, check her out!

Large foliage and floral arch for a wedding in a barn by Gorgeous and Green

A little bit Country, a little bit Vintage Wedding

A couple of weeks ago we created beautiful wedding flowers for a favorite customer of ours. The vibe was natural, vintage inspired, classy and a bit country. The reception and ceremony took place out in Oakley, CA in a beautifully restored barn and neighboring field. Without any distractions around, the setting was beautiful, peaceful and perfect for a celebration of over 300 guests. Here are a few shots from the designs we created:

Bright Local G&G Jewels at the Brazil Room

A few weeks ago Gorgeous and Green provided the bright and lovely floral decor for a wedding at the Brazil Room at Tilden Park in Berkeley.  The building there is beautifully set amongst rolling green hills, and the building is made with a lot of dark wood, so I wanted to keep the floral decor bright and colorful. The flowers were locally grown in half moon bay and Petaluma, and many were organically grown in Oakland too!  We used a lot of spring flowers including anemones, ranunculus, leptopermum, vibernum, icelandic poppies, scabiosa, callas and sweet peas. Below are a few pictures of the table designs, all taken from my phone, so I apologize ahead of time.  Although they aren't the best pics, they show the lovely colors!  I hope to post some of the photographer's pics on my blog as some point in the future, there was a lovely decorate Chuppah too, and many other details.

Gorgeous and Green's Tropical Cabbage

I wouldn't usually put cabbage and tropical in the same sentence. Here's a pic of a lush tropical arrangement Gorgeous and Green created for a local restaurant, featuring organic and local cabbage, local roses and local birds of paradise.  Very bright and  festive.

Love and the Online Boutique!

Hello neighbors and friends! We've been getting ready for the big day of love, and  the opening of the Gorgeous and Green online boutique.  We will be open every day up to Valentines Day, including Monday (our usual day off) so please come in to find something unique and sustainable for yourself or someone else.  We will have a lovely assortment of flowers for bouquets, as well as the usual suspect, the rose.  All our roses will either be locally grown in Petaluma, or they will be sustainably grown and fair trade Veriflora roses.  For those who can't come in, we will have online ordering available as well as orders via phone: 510 665 7974 for local deliveries. It's been a long time coming, but our online shop is finally opening tomorrow February 10th 2012.  We're happy to offer our lovely selection of local and sustainably made gifts and flower arrangements to online shoppers.  We have lovely sustainable arrangements and local succulent terrariums that can be delivered locally by pedal express, a local worker-owned bicycle courier !  Yes, that means your local flowers and gifts can make their way to local friends and family without emissions.  For deliveries outside of the local east area, we will continue to use our carbon neutral high mpg or biodiesel vehicles.  We are also offering other sustainable, locally made and eco friendly gifts and items that can be sent via USPS.  We will be adding more and more lovely items in the coming months, but hope this assortment will be helpful to those seeking gifts of love for themselves or someone else. To give you a little taste of what we will be offering online, here are a few items from the shop:

Various bridesmaid bouquets for a local East Bay Wedding by Gorgeous and Green

The bridesmaids all got slightly different bouquets with local dahlias, local roses, local belladonna, etc.  The colors matched their dresses which were a floral pattern with burgundy, yellow, orange, grey, brown and blue just like the bouquets. Overall, the wedding was very local and actually very DIY.  The bride ordered a large order of flowers at a discount and with her bridesmaids, created aisle and table arrangements in mason jars.

The bouquet is a lovely combination of local non-sprayed dahlias, local non-sprayed succulents wrapped in burlap.  The bride gave me some lace to use to wrap with the burlap to match her lovely gown.
